Global Purchasing Forum Launched the Opening Ceremony in Shanghai with Chinese First Purchasing Development Report Released
2008-11-27 09:48:34

Global Purchasing (Shanghai) Forum and the Third Annual Sino-American Conference on Purchasing and Supply Chain Management was recently held in Shanghai, and Chinese first purchasing development report China Purchasing Development Report was released at the conference.

It was reported that in recent years, Chinese enterprises are attaching more importance to purchasing and supply management, with plenty of enterprises appointing the general managers to be directly responsible for purchasing management. The move comes from not the drive of governments or other external forces but the demand of enterprises themselves. On the whole, Chinese purchasing and supply management is still in low-level initiating phase, for example, China has not established the unified and authoritative purchasing performance appraisal system. Thus, enterprises have to act at their own discretion or take what they need, which causes the rising of purchasing cost and the decline of purchasing efficiency. The Forum with its theme of “construct Chinese purchasing and supply management system” was jointly sponsored by China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing and Institute for Supply Management. The experts and scholars from home and abroad and the business people present at the conference expressed their own opinions on such topics as development of global purchasing and supply chain management, constructing Chinese purchasing and supply management system and confronting the challenge of global purchasing and supply management.
