1.Brief Introduction Shanghai Fusheng Economic Development Zone was established in 1994.It is located in the south coast and in the middle of Chongming Island and is the core area of urban economic and industrial zone in the South Chongming Sub-area under planning and has become a significant increasing point of the economic development in Chongming and one of the major platforms to attract foreign investment. 2.Location Advantages It is located on the south front of the center of Chongming Island-the window in the north of Shanghai,with its north facing Qidong,Jiangsu which lies opposite the Yangtze River and its south facing the vast Yangtze River.It boasts deep water shorefront with a length of 3km and permanent water depth of 12m.Here a thousand-ton international freight wharf has been established. 3.Industries The Development Zone has established three major industries:ship manufacture supporting industry has already taken shape and the key industries in the future include photoelectron industry,port machinery and ship manufacture supporting industry. Photoelectron Industry: In April 2003,Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Committee approved for special establishment of Shanghai Chongming Photoelectron Industry Base in Fusheng Economic Development Zone. Port Machinery: Fusheng Economic Development Zone boasts the unique container dock in Chongming Island and the 3km-long deep-water bank line along the river,providing requisite conditions for Chongming in terms of transference, shipment and establishment of large-scale logistics center. Supporting industry of ship manufacture: In view of the functional orientation for Changxing Ocean Outfits Island of Chongming,supporting industry of ship manufacture will be developed 4.Land The development zone covers a verified area of 40 hectares,but actually administers an area of 900 hectares. 5.Infrastructure Power: 3 35KV transformer substations are planned to be established,one of which has been completed and put into operation at present. Gas: The construction of the first phase of the gas station with a daily supply capacity of 100,000 m3 has been commenced,the Cross-River Natural Gas Project is under preparation and in the near future,natural gas will be supplied for use in the Development Zone.Container Dock At the south edge of the Development Zone is the 3km-long deep-water bank line where water depth reaches 2m,so it is fit for manufacture of ten-thousand-ton berth.At present a thousand-ton freight dock has been established for direct export of containers. Waterway: 2km away from the south of the Development Zone is Chongming International Container Freight Wharf and container goods may be exported directly.The passenger ferry is in south,about 2km away from the Development Zone and Chongming Nanmen Passenger Ferry lies in the west,about 0.7km away. 6.Plants Investors may obtain standard plants through lease or purchase. 7.Environment Protection Waste water disposal should meet the First Level Standard provided in Shanghai Municipal Comprehensive Standard for Waste Water Disposal (DB31/199-1997), waste emission should meet the Second Level Standard provided in the Comprehensive Standard for the Emission of Air Pollutes of the People's Republic of China(GB16297-1996),and the noise control applies Standard III of the Noise Standard for Plant Area of lndustrial Enterprises of the People's Republic of China(GB12348-90) 8.Contact Shanghai Fusheng Economic Development Zone Administration Committee Shanghai Fusheng Economic Development Zone Development Co.,Ltd.
