Pepsico to Invest USD1b in China in the Next Four Years

Ms Indra Nooyi, President and CEO of Pepsico announced in Beijing today that Pepsico plans to invest USD1b in the Chinese market in the next four years, which is the largest investment of Pepsico in the Chinese market over nearly 30 years. Prior to this, Pepsico just declared to lay off 3300 staff across the globe.


Ms Indra Nooyi said investment of pepsico in China includes expansion of production capability, especially in the mainland and the west areas of China. Moreover, the investment will be also used to enlarge local R&D institutions, enhance sales of the company and broaden the distribution of products. Before announcing the investment, Ms Indra Nooyi just paid the visit to Sichuan and attended the donation ceremony of constructing an anti-earthquake school by Pepsico Foundation and Sichuan Pepsi-Cola Beverage Co., Ltd (hereinafter Sichuan Pepsi).


It was estimated that the investment is expected to create ten thousand job opportunities. Investment plan of Pepsico unveiled the optimistic attitudes of multinational corporations towards Chinese market.
