From relatively sealing to opening up to the outside world in an all round way, Shanghai has become the important band bridging the world and window through which the world knows China. Han Zheng, Shanghai Mayor, on November 2 announced citing real data while attending the 20th International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai that over 20 years, Shanghai has successfully attracted regional headquarters of 184 multinational corporations to settle, and Shanghai’s economy is on the two-digit rise for 16 consecutive years.
This year is just the 20th anniversary of International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai when Han highly summarized Shanghai’s great changes over the past 20 years. He was grateful to the invited business leaders present from the world, saying “we witnessed together Shanghai’s transfer from the traditional planned economy to the dynamic socialist market economy.”
