1.Brief Introduction

Shanghai Songjiang Export Processing Zone is Shanghai's first export processing zone approved by the state council.It is located within the planned area of Songjiang Industry Zone.The total close administration is implemented.There are services such as customs house,commodity inspection and quarantine,taxation,industry and commerce,banks,foreign trade, transportation and customs declaration within the zone,and the introduced enterprises may finish all the import and export procedures within the zone.Currently it only takes 4 hours for import and export goods to pass the customs,which reaches the level in developed countries Songjiang Export Processing Zone is composed of Section A and Section B

(1)Section A of Songjiang Export Processing Zone

Section A is located within the planned territory of the first phase and was built on April 27,2000 with the approval of the State Council with a planned area of 2.88 square km.At present,the development of Section A is basically completed.Up to the end of December 2003,a total number of 55 foreign funded enterprises have been introduced with a total investment of USD 730 million.An annual export volume of USD 5 billion has been developed.Among the enterprises settled in the zone,the leading industry is the electric and IT manufacturing industry with Quanta Computer as the major enterprise the major products are laptops.

(2)Section B of SongJiang Export Processing Zone

Due to the rapid development of Section A,Section B of Songjiang Export Processing Zone was approved by the State Council on March 14,2003 to meet the demand of newly settled enterprises.Section B is located in the west of Songjiang District at the intersection of the Huhang Highway and the Tongsan Highway with a planned area of 3 square km,closely adjacent to Songjiang New City and Songjiang University City.

2.Location Advantages

The zone enjoys convenient transportation by road,air and water.

Waterway:

47km away from Shanghai Railway Station.Railway trunk lines to the south China run through Songjiang Industry Zone.There is also a large cargo substation in the south of Songjiang,and the light rail connecting Songjiang and Shanghai downtown is also put operation.

Road:

There's a convenient road network consisting of Huhang Highway,Tongsan Expressway,Yongjin Highway and high standard roads such as Songmin Toad and Husong Road.Tongsan Expressway links Huhang Highway and Huning Highway.The Outer Ring Road is 18 Km away from Songjiang Industry Zone.

5.Infrastructure

(1)Road:

There's a road system like chess-board inside the zone with the main road linked with Huhang Highway and Tongsan Expressway.The total length of the roads within the zone reaches 1OO km.

(2)Power:

East China Power Grid supplies the power at various levels such as 1OKV,35KV,11KV with a total volume of 1 million KVA.

(3)Telecommunication:

There is telecommunication sub-bureau in the zone with a total system-controlled installment capacity of 40,000 lines,providing all kinds of telecommunication services including IDD,DDD,Telex and Fax.The enterprises inside the zone may apply for ISDN,ADSL and DDN telecommunication systems.

(4)Water supply:

The water is directly supplied by Songjiang Water Plant with a daily supply capacity of 270,000 ton with water pressure of above 1.6kg.The rain water drainage pipes are also laid down on both sides of the roads within the zone directly leading to Huangpu River through rivers to ensure the plant area without seep.

(5)Waste water:

The waste water is drained into Songjiang Waste Water Processing Plant,East Waste Water Processing Plant and West Waste Water Processing Plant for integrated processing,with respective daily processing capacity of 100,000 tons,70,000 tons and 100,000 tons reaching a total daily capacity of 270,000 tons.

(6)Gas:

A Gas Reservation and Distribution Station is built in the zone with heating value of 25,000K/m³.The daily supply capacity reaches 300,000 m³with the Outer pressure of 0.8kg/cm²(931 ton/m³)
