On the afternoon of August 10, 2008 Beijing International Media Center held a press conference, during which special director of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Li Rongrong, introduced the reform and development of SASAC since its establishment and answered reporters’ question. With regard to overseas cooperation of state-owned enterprises, Li Rongrong said the first issue in “going abroad” of overseas cooperation was to comply with international rules and local laws; the second one was the cooperation projects must be win-win and develop together. And the cooperative projects would be decided by the enterprises themselves.
Li Rongrong said that SASAC was authorized by the State Council as representative investors of state-owned assets. Premier Wen Jiabao asked not to be “mother-in-law + boss”. My understanding was to be “a good boss”. Enterprises were encouraged in accordance with the prescribed owners of SASAC. Projects which were largely correlative, SASAC would organize them in appropriate time.
