On May 15, Susanna Rosewright Macaulay, vice-director of Research Center for World Competitiveness of IMD addressed to the reporter of Xinhua News Agency that this year the ranking of Chinese competitiveness slightly fell, but it had great potential to rise in the long run. World Competitiveness Yearbook 2008 released by IMD on the day revealed that the ranking of Chinese overall competitiveness fell from 15 to 17. However, in Yearbook 2006 and 2007, the ranking of Chinese competitiveness was on the rise.
