Schattdecor Decoration Material (Shanghai) Company Ltd. was established in May 2001. As a wholly-invested subsidiary company of Schattdecor (Germany) Group, and also a global leading Group in decoration and wainscoting industry, Schattdecor Group has always taking the principle of serving the development of Chinese economy and domestic decoration and wainscoting industry as our responsibility. Under the great efforts of Mr. Zhu Yi, Managing Director and his management team, it’s only less than 1 year that the high-standard production plant and office buildings of around 66,700 m2 was set up in Shanghai Kangqiao Industrial zone, and all relevant equipments were imported and installed ready for the launch of production. The formal production started in September 2002, and by year 203, sales revenue has exceeded 100 million RMB, which made Schattdecor be one of the major enterprises in Kangqiao Industrial Zone.

Right from the first day when the company was established, it took root in the fertile soil of China market. With the rapid development of China economy, there is a big growth in the demand of good-quality and cheap wood for the production of furniture and compound floor board. But domestic production for this kind of wood could not meet market demand neither in quantity nor in quality, therefore, imported products occupied most of the market. German manufacturer used the technique of carefully cohering the artificial turpentine for decoration purpose and varnish with the surface of wood (e.g. cabinetwork wood, MDF wood and etc.), which was a good replacement of real wood and enjoyed lots of advantages. The great care and attention of China Central government and different levels of regional governments, support of China relevant policy, policy execution by Shanghai municipal government different departments and the sound investment environment of Kangqiao Industrial Zone, all the aforementioned elements contributed to the dramatic progress of the company, and of course, the efforts made by Company’s Top management and different teams was also one of the factors leading to success.

Rapid development

From the first day of company construction in November 2001 till the launch of the production of the very first roll of decoration paper material, it’s only no more than 11 months that the whole basic infrastructure construction and equipment installation was finished, which marked the high-quality and highly efficient first step of the Schattdecor project. In the following months, sales volume of the company had been climbing up, and the only one production line was not able to meet the requirement of domestic and overseas customers. Schattdecor completed the set up of the second production line in September 2004, and only within 2 months, expatriate technicians worked with domestic employees and finished the installation and pilot test of new equipments. As a result, company’s production capability has increased by 100%. The incredibly rapid development and progress could be regarded as miracle in this industry.

Company’s investment and production will accelerate its capability to meet Chinese consumers’ demand for elegant-design, high-quality and reasonable-price furniture, indoor decoration and compound floor. Company also directly provides top-class decoration paper from Shanghai to the young and prosperous China market as well as the markets in Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Main customers are the manufacturers of compound board furniture and floor. Before the company as formally established in Shanghai, its representative offices were already set up in China and Southeast Asia. After the company was established, the convenient production and transportation conditions led to the gradual growth of market share. In China, our sales team were working together closely to develop new customers. By utilizing our advantages in global resource, expertise and service, the company is making endeavors to provide optimum services for customers.

Company owns multi-national design teams, and all various items of products are developed by the in-house R&D team. Currently, customers could choose from over 600 different style and patterns of rollers and above 10,000 different colors Bavaria Zelkova is the classic product of our company, which is welcomed by lots of consumers. There are other types of wood such as Country Alder, Country Maple, Country Walnut, Alder Deck, Zelkova Deck, Maple Deck, Chokeberry, Marasca Cherry, Oxford Cherry, Silver-line Teak, and Compound Teak are popular products in the market, which are also protected by domestic and international design patents.

Strong and global leading technology team

The manufacturing of a new chromatic roller needs close cooperation and team work of Research & Development Department, Roller Management Department, Quality Control Department, and Production Department, so as to ensure the quality of each batch of rollers produced. The Roller Engraving Department dedicatedly set up by the company will use the most advanced Lacer system to make digital engraving for rollers. And the whole process is finished within an airproof room under the strict computer automatic control. The strict control over the quality of rollers has ensured the leading position of Schattdecor in decoration paper industry.

Lately, the company has also organized a group of R & D members and developed a new type of water-soluble red printing ink, which is of 8-degree lightfastness and 220℃ heat stability. The new ink is further used in the printing and production of grainy paper, bringing the grainy paper the effect of anti-ultraviolet radiation high colorfastness, and now the paper is able to maintain same color with natural wood under different sun rays. During testing period, technicians in head office gathered different advanced technologies and made proper innovation and development, and solved one of the most difficult problems in the industry, which eventually established a sound foundation for the sustainable development of China Decoration Paper Market and the protection of Chinese limited forest and wood resource.

For the purpose of environmental protection, Company chose water-soluble and non-pollution pigment, without metal element, and produced no harm to environment and human body. Company is also equipped with state-of-art organic sewage treatment system, which is using microbe to treat with the waste water generated during production.

By adopting globally advanced SAP management system, the company effectively stored and integrated different information in terms of production, which provided reliable guarantee on the accuracy of information and consistency of product quality for the next batch of same orders. SAP system facilitated the convenient and smooth information exchange within the company, improved management level of the company. In year 2003, the company is rewarded as Shanghai Advanced Technology Foreign Investment Enterprise by Shanghai Foreign Capital Investment Office.
