Shanghai Valmont Deformed Steel Pipe Co., Ltd., the predecessor of Valmont Industry (China) Co., Ltd., was a joint venture of American Valmont Industry Cooperation and Shanghai Deformed Steel Pipe Ltd. During the early period, Shanghai government and Songjiang District government have given powerful support and assistance to the company, which made it establish and go into operation very quickly. At the beginning of the foundation, leaders at high rank had a very clear train of thought, that is, 'localization' compromised with advanced technology and the way of management from abroad. “Localization” was a term that was always referred to after international enterprises entering China. Leaders of Valmont considered that localization meant that one should clearly and correctly know his market and in which the demands of clients, and provide products to meet the demands according to his own technology. At the same time of localization, Valmont Cooperation adopted American advanced technology of designing and experiences of producing to draft the standards of producing American steel pipe rods, and during the period of designing and producing, Valmont adopted higher standards to design products which were safe, economic, artistic, and light.

In the respect of material, Valmont Industry (China) Co., Ltd. adopted special steels rolled under ASTM, which were very high-intensity. With advanced technology of “Preflex”, the rods made in such steels were very light and small-diameter. At the same time, the quality of hot-galvanize was high enough under the strict control of microelements.

In the respect of antiseptic, due to the influence of the microelements toward the antiseptic of hot-galvanize, Valmont adopted special steels not only for the high intensity but also for the high quality of hot-galvanize.

After many years’ efforts, Valmont Industry (China) Co., Ltd., successively won the following honorary titles: Shanghai Enterprise with High Advanced Technology, Shanghai Enterprise of Saving- Energy Products, and Outstanding Enterprise. From 2000 to 2003, it has won the honorary title for four times—Shanghai Double-Good Foreign-Funded Enterprise. In December 1997, it took the leading in passing the ISO9001. In 2001, it became one of the 500 strong industrial enterprises in Shanghai. After years of efforts, Valmont Industry (China) Co., Ltd., has provided tens of thousands of steel pipe rods for clients both at home and abroad. These products include: lightening rods for the ninth Guangzhou Olympic Games, Beijing Chang’an Road, Wangfujing Street, lightening rods and tall rods for Guangzhou new airport, Nanjing Second Bridge, Jiangyin Bridge, the football field of World Cup in Korea 2002, communication rods for Japan Posts and Telecommunications, electric power rods for Tokyo Electric Power Company and so on. Another important reason was that no serious industrial accident happened when the company reached such good achievements, although there were three small accidents, which didn't cause much loss. In June 2004, the governor of the Nebraska State, USA, Mike Johnathan visited our company.
